About Kenya Rainwater Association (KRA): Cultivating Hope, Nurturing Change
Establishing a Legacy Since 1994
In the heart of Kenya’s pursuit of a water-secure future, the Kenya Rainwater Association (KRA) emerged in 1994, weaving a tapestry of expertise, collaboration, and unwavering commitment. We’re not just an organization; we’re architects of transformation, architects of hope, and architects of sustainable change.
In the year 1994, a group of visionaries founded KRA, laying the cornerstone for what would become a national force for positive change. Over the years, we’ve evolved, but our essence remains rooted in a history of resilience, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of a brighter future for all.
Vision: Beyond the Horizon
KRA envisions a society in which all people have access to safe, reliable, and sustainable water supplies. Our vision reaches beyond the horizon, where every drop of water holds the promise of transformation. It’s a vision where communities thrive, where vulnerability succumbs to resilience, and where the echoes of change resound from generation to generation.
Mission: Crafting Change, One Drop at a Time
To improve water supply, food security, and environmental sustainability through the development, improvement, and promotion of Rainwater Harvesting and Management (RHM) systems and complementary technologies. Our mission is not just a statement; it’s a manifesto for action. We delve into the very fabric of communities, providing technical expertise and fortifying their capacity to combat water scarcity, adapt to climate change, and enhance livelihoods.
A Symphony of Impactful Initiatives:
Empowering Communities: Our journey involves empowering vulnerable communities to build reservoirs, rock catchments, wells, and more – ensuring that the fundamental right to clean drinking water becomes a reality.
Hygiene and Sanitation Initiatives: Clean water is not just a resource; it’s a catalyst for health. Through Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WSH) projects, we champion initiatives that combat waterborne diseases, creating ripples of lasting impact.
Complementary Technologies: From micro-irrigation systems to agro-forestry, our support extends to diverse technologies that pave the way for improved household nutrition, income, and environmental conservation.
